Rear hub differances

Post by djohns » Thu Dec 03, 2009 12:16 pm

Getting around to chroming my rims and replating the spokes. The rear hub taken from my '64 CA77 had "cutouts" and the corresponding rubber dampeners clipped in. My '65 CA77 had a solid hub (no cutouts) and the dampeners pinned in with nibs molded on. Took apart my '63 CA72 fr and rr wheels this morning to remone the spokes and the rear hub had no cutouts but was solid like the 1965 CA77. My guess is that the rear wheels (and therefore the hubs) at some time were swapped since all three bikes came from the same person. Trying to get the correct parts back into the correct bikes. The hub with the cutouts originally came on the '63 CA72 and there was a change in '64 to a solid ,non cutout, hub for the '64 and '65? Comments? Pic attached

Hi,

I have also both types lying here around.
The one with the cut-outs are from an early type, the later ones where closed.
