Faulty Fuel Tap - petrol only from one outlet at a time ?

Post by Phil-UK » Sun Jul 31, 2016 3:33 pm

Hi

Anybody ever had a problem with the twin output fuel tap on a CB350 where petrol only seems to come out of 1 outlet ? Draining the tank direct from the tap outlets I get a good flow out of 1 outlet but not the other. Then if I block the good one off the petrol then comes from the other !!

The bike is only just back on the road after finally getting a registration doc ( originally came from the US ) and when I drained both carbs I definitely got more fuel from one than the other so I think its an issue when running.

I know its basically the same tap as the CB72/77s and if draining my CB72 both outputs flow the same.

any suggestions please,

Phil

Probably an obstruction in one of the passageways. If you know someone with (or have one yourself) an ultrasonic cleaner I would give it a good session in there.

Hi Graham

Will give that a go and see if that resolves it.

Nothing wrong with the petcock, with two openings fluid will flow out of whichever orifice has the least resistance. Block one and fuel flows out the other.
