Spark advance springs

Post by Husker45 » Fri Dec 21, 2012 4:05 pm

I installed a new set of spark advanced springs on cam sprocket. The advance arms have some play before the springs pick up. Is this normal? Thanks for any info.

Good afternoon Loud Mouse. My engine is a cb77 (CB77E-212739). The replacement springs were part number 14329-268-320 from Classic Honda Restoration. The original springs also allowed some arm play and since I didn't know if that was correct decided to replace them.

I guess I would describe it as in and out. Or a better way to say it would be the spark would advance with no spring resistance for some number of degrees as the arms move out. Does all of that make any sense?

Loud Mouse, do you think I have the wrong springs or a problem with the cam sprocket. What would you inspect on the cam sprocket?
