Left Cylinder Has Intermittent Spark

Post by Cap'n Dave » Mon May 21, 2018 6:33 pm

My CP77 is difficult to start and then I realized that the left cylinder wasn't firing. If I pulled the spark cap off the about 1/4" it would start to fire. Few minutes later I would press the cap on fully and it was fine.

Anybody have any ideas ?

Plugs clean and fresh?
Carbs jetted correctly?
Ignition timing set properly?
Try swapping ignition parts (plugs / caps ) left tyo right.

By pulling the lead away from the plug you have essentially incresed the voltage at the plug points.

A couple of problems I have had are a poor connection between the plug lead and the cap ( fixed by cutting a little bit off the lead and rejoining) and also plugs that have just not fired consistently but easily checked by swapping them over.
