Shifter issues after cases off

Post by musicmanmikey » Sat Mar 30, 2019 9:12 pm

Hi everyone. New to the world of Dreams, picked up a 1966 Ca77 a few weeks back!

This weekend I took the engine side covers off for sandblasting. I got everything back together, refilled with oil and everything seemed good. However, the shifter is acting weird. Almost like it gets stuck/won't shift properly. I put it on a stand and I can get it into 1st, but going into 2nd or anything else, it seems to hang. If I wiggle it, it will shift, then get stuck somewhere else. Happens shifting up and down. Any ideas what might’ve happened?

without the main trans shaft spinning (i.e. engine running) these things won't shift worth a hoot. you can jiggle the output gear, rock the wheel. sometimes it works, sometimes not.
Good luck

Thanks for the tip. I’ll run it around the block and see if that does anything.
