Nice work, bigscooter, The combination of flat bars, and the solo seat look way cool. I think you deserve to make some noise, to celebrate your work. I know what you mean about the wife not being as impressed as us motorheads, with our projects. Hopefully, she will see how much fun your getting out of fixing it up, bringing it back to life. It's as good as saving a puppy from the pound

Were did you get that seat? It sure looks nice. How about some close up pictures of the seat and seat mounting?

thanks! i got the seat a while back, at a yard sale. i think it's a universal seat for a harley or something. it measures 13" x 13".
it's probably a foreign repop from china, or India cuz it has metric 8mm mounting studs. i hung the seat from the 10mm front seat mount. i just added some 2inch seat springs i had kickin around, just for fun. they don't do anything :-) . i put a piece of sticky felt on the frame, where the seat rests on it. i didn't want to drill any unnecessary holes to mount the rear of the seat to. so far it's been working great.

I've got one of the solo seats from eBay, it's not as nice as bigscooters. Smaller and thinner.

I plan on mounting mine like you have, but maybe run a piece of metal material between the bottom of the sprints so that it rests on the frame. Arch it some so that it doesn't raise the seat terribly high but still give you a bit of springiness before it bottoms out on the frame.
