Recommendations for CB77 Seat Needed

Post by Seadog » Tue Mar 20, 2018 7:52 am

1966 CB77, Frame 1042485. Lip seat or flat? I believe I've read that the lip seat was used in the late 1966 models 'till end of production. The Honda parts manual lists 2 seats, the second of which is for frame 1034092 to EOP. I assume that this is the lip seat.

What say all of you? Which is correct for this '66?

My frame is 1051564, wiring harness labelled as a 1966 but I’m told was sold during the 1967 year. I have the original seat and it is lip type.

Thanks Merz. I just can’t tell if mine is an early or late ‘66, so I’m undecided. I hope to get some more input from forum members.

One last try to get some opinions about the correct seat to get for this '66. Please weigh in. I'm not sure if it's a late enough in the model year for the lip seat to be correct.

I'd really appreciate some feedback.

I would say hump seat is probably correct yours especially if you have alloy front fork sliders.
If you’re interested in a NOS hump seat ? PM me.

CB77 Seat

I'd guess that the reason you've had no response to this is because nobody can confidently give you a definitive answer, certainly I can't.
Here in the UK I think Honda UK had big stocks of unsold bikes and we didn't see that many with the alloy forks, I don't recall ever seeing one with the hunped seat that wasn't a later import from the U.S. I don't think we saw the folding footrests either.

If you can't find out for sure which seat is / was correct for your particular bike, why worry? Just fit the seat you have or the one YOU prefer, it's your bike and your choice.
