CB77 fuel lever snapped!

Post by akpasta » Mon May 06, 2019 10:35 am

I've got a 1964-ish CB77 and the other day the fuel lever just snapped!

You can see for yourself here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1JX9-eA ... sp=sharing

I am hoping that I don't need to replace the entire fuel tap, it works great and doesn't leak. I am hoping to find a lever and replace that.

I am having a hard time finding a lever. I've tried ebay, 4into1, david silver spares, etc. Just can't find one. Can anyone help me out understanding whether there are multiple levers that could work, or whether I need an exact CB77 one, and whether there are multiple levers from various CB77 years?

Also, until I can find one, what issues could I have with just leaving the fuel tap "on" all the time? Will the seal eventually fail and start leaking fuel? Seems to be pretty tight so far, no gas smell in the morning.

Thank you!

You will likely have to acquire a somewhat complete petcock for the CB72-77 models.......Someone may have a damaged unit for small $$$ versus a pristine unit......I'll take a look in my parts stash to see if the someone is me!

Thanks for chiming in everyone!

I tracked down a cb77 lever on ebay and it's in the mail to me now. I can give that a shot. Hopefully it does the trick.

So far no issues from just leaving it on "reserve" all the time :-D
