I have a 1965 305 cc CA78 bike and when I got it there was no air filter on it. There was a spring attached to the carb that is cone shaped. That is all that is there. Please help me figure out what I need.

The spring looks to be number 3 on the parts diagram but there is no rubber coating it. I guess I will need a new one and an air filter box to get it back in shape.

Number 3 is a rubber air intake tube. No spring involved. See https://classichondarestoration.com/air-intake-tube-ca77.html
