h305 - Bike For Sale - 1966 CA78

I've had this bike for about 2 years. It was purchased from my mechanic (Wolf Cycles in Arbutus, Maryland), and he purchased it from the original owner. It had been sitting in a garage for about 20 years unused, and Bob Wolf 'revived' it. It is not 'restored', but it has been refurbished on an 'as needed' basis. There are probably about three different shades of 'Honda White' on it, some newer than others. The tires are Dunlop K82 TT100 Lightweights that I got from England, and there is less than 2,000 miles on them. Everything on the bike works, including the lights, brakes, starter, horn, etc etc.

As far as what's 'original', the paint finish on the tank, right side panel, forks, headlight bucket, frame, chain guard, front fender and shocks (which are metal shroud, BTW) is all original. The left side panel has been repainted the wrong shade of white, and the panel could stand to be smoothed out due to some little dents. The rear half of the rear fender was just repainted (Honda White, but not the same tone as the original finish) as a result of repairing a split on the left side of the fender (a common occurrence, from what I understand). The mufflers are 'cocktail shaker' style mufflers which were on the bike when I bought it, and they're probably 35 years old, but in really good shape (the original mufflers didn't come with the bike when I bought it). The only other thing that isn't original is the air filter, which is a foam 'Uni' filter. The mirrors are Honda repros, and the seat is all original and in great shape (no tears). The horn is a big grey sucker that's really loud (don't know what it's from). I do not have the original as it didn't come with it when I bought it. Engine, tranny, wheels, carbs, header pipes and most other major components are original.

The only other cosmetic issue with the bike is that the original owner added two bullet running lights on either side of the headlight bucket, and a toggle switch in the top of the bucket. I've since removed them and have simply plugged the holes with chrome hole plugs (they're about 1/2" each). Mechanically, the bike rides great, idles nicely, and tops out at about 85mph. It is as comfortable on the Baltimore Beltway as it is on the two lane backroads. The engine has not been apart (to my knowledge) and I don't think it needs to be, as it rides so nice. It still has the points ignition, the brakes are in good shape, and the chain has lots of life left in it. It could stand to have the front brake cable replaced, but that's only because the housing has electrical tape wrapped around it in one small section, but it's been fine for me so you might be okay. The badges on the tank are metal, though I do have one original one that came with the bike (cracked).

The bike is located in the Baltimore, Maryland area, but I'm willing to deliver the bike (I'd ride it, of course!) within 75 miles of here to the new owner at no extra cost, weather permitting (don't think I'll be doing it in a snowstorm in January). If you live further away than that, I can certainly help out in terms of shipping or pick up arrangements, but those costs would be up to you.

This is a fun and great riding bike (and reliable!) that can be 'restored' as needed, but it's ready to ride as it is!
