Been using one on my CB77 - no problem.

I read a review sometime somewhere about penetrating oils.
They got best results from a 50/50 mix of ATF and acetone.
Maybe do it outside.

Hi Phil, I've "twisted" about ten pairs of these without injury to the chrome. Clamp the bottom section vertically in a smooth jaw bench vise, including the lower bend. Hopefully you also have a smooth jaw machinists' vise that's not anchored to anything. Clamp that to the uppermost section ...

I once put the ball in the wrong end of the actuator. It goes in the inboard end where it will press against the clutch rod.
Clutch rod length should be 9.625". Round end goes to the clutch side, flat end to the actuator side.

Check that the clutch actuator has the 5/16" bearing ball in it.
It presses against the clutch rod.

A bit late (maybe a lot late) updating this - sorry about that.
The undamaged swing arm I purchased from E-Bay sorted out the alignment problem.
