I don't know if the knock pin you're looking for is stepped or not, I suspect not as the measurements you gave are 6x12. But you can find a knock pin for a KZ1000 that measures 6x14mm and cut it down with a dremel cutoff wheel. There are several for sale on ebay.

Yes, I think that is too much to pay, but I really don't know enough about it. Pictures would be nice. The mileage is a little suspect, especially since he's not the original owner, he's just being told that from the prior owner. The oil leak can be fixed with out too much trouble.

Steve, according to my Clymer, the rear axle diameter is 16.9-17.0mm (16.85 or less is OOS). The front axle diameter is 15.0mm (14.9 or less is OOS). I don't have one handy to measure, I hope this answers your question.
