I am not sure what I am going to do, but taking apart the whole cam is not on the list.

hmm, maybe give it some time and take a break. i know how it is. i struggled getting my cb77 to run well for a long time.

you could do that sprocket swap in a day, you'd need a new head gasket, the other gaskets u'd need i usually make myself, like the other two top end ones. i could send you .pdf images of the gaskets so you could print them out and use em like a stencil on top of gasket material. thats how i do it at least. to save cash and time.

a break from it might be the best idea, to build up the inspiration again.

Put the points back in. The drag of the points rubbing blocks on the cam will help the advance return to idle. Or you could lock the advance in the advanced position and install a Boyer Bransden ignition. The Boyer box does the advance curve electronically.

I am thinking seriously about welding to a fixed advance.

Any thoughts?

I am a bit baffled by how I am going to determine where to weld it.

I got a very good welder guy that can help, but I need to show him what to do.

I'm so curious now that I'm thinking seriously about contributing $100 to the cost to ship the damn thing down to LoudMouse and let him figure it out!

That's funny.

I think its pretty clearly one of a couple things.

1. I still dont have the springs to spec because the tolerences are close and I am doing this by trial and error.

2. These rivets are loose on the advancer and the problem isnt the springs at all.

If LM is still willing to sell me a sproket with springs set to spec, I am a willing buyer!
