Took the Dream/Nightmare for a ride the other day and the mid-range mixture seems to be working now.

I dropped the main needle one notch, from notch #3 to #2 and took it for another test ride today and it is better still but still seemed anemic compared to the CB77 I had way back when but, after being out for 20 minutes, it perked up! I didn't realize I had been running on one cylinder until the second one started cutting in and out LOL!!!

I guess its time to lean the mixture a little more, to the top notch, and try new plugs, and take another spin.

Strangely enough I remember the clip being in the top groove of the needle when I rebuilt the carb but didn't know if it had ever run that way.

Got out for another test ride with the needle clip in the top ring and new plugs - THAT'S MORE LIKE IT! The performance is more what I had expected.

It will get ridden a few more times, as long as the weather hold, and then it will be time to reduce it to pieces for polish and paint! :)

We finally had one descent afternoon after a cold spell and I got the chance to take the Dream out on the highway and open it up. It doesn't have the acceleration of a Superhawk but it isn't bad. It ran very nicely and, when the brakes are done, I will have no hesitation about riding it to town (70 miles round trip) next spring.

After months of work, it is nice to have the Honda running the way Hondas are supposed to run and nice to have this one running well after many decades of sitting idle and deteriorating.

Now with a clear conscience I can tear it down for paint and polish knowing that when it goes back together I will have a fine motorcycle.

You WILL INDEED have a Fine Motorcycle! Congrats, Dianne!

Snow in the forecast, busy with home renovations, and waiting for my painting supplies.

I am looking forward to tearing the Dream down, stripping the old paint, and repainting it Candy Purple! ;)

We have a couple of unusually warm days for November 8 so I took both Hondas out for a boot. The Dream is running lovely. Had it up to 50 MPH (as fast as I care to go on a gravel road) but it purred along just fine.

Nuther lovely day so I had the Dream out for another boot! Damn it's fun to ride down the back roads.

If the weather continues like this, it might be hard to get it painted this winter LOL!
