I love the side by side shots of all the different years of parts. This is easily one of the most educational threads on the board. Keep up the good work!

I agree! The 61 and 62 have the most parts that differ from the other years, and it's great that Tom has the later parts to compare them with! Keep up the good work Tom!

Thanks, guys. If there are any parts that you want photos of that I might miss, just give a shout. If I don't have a part to compare maybe someone will be able to post a photo of theirs.

Here's a look at my '62 steering stem/steering damper vs one for the aluminum slider fork legs that began with cb77-1030130. There were 4 different issues of the steering stem for the steel slider CB72/CB77s. Mine would be 53200-268-02 and the comparison would be 53200-268-07. I also have a later issue steel slider steering stem but can't get to it at the moment. Bill Silver's book has a lot of info on the breakdown for the different issues. It's really important to know what you have before sourcing parts if you need them. It's 38mm ID on mine and 33mm ID on the later one. You can see the differences in the friction assys for the damper. Star spring is different as well as the nut, damper disc bolt added at CB77-3111503, also Plate A and Plate B are different. The steering damper knob only had one part number. My logo is designed differently then the one from the aluminum slider bike.

I put 3 fork bridges out for comparison. The one in the middle is for my 1962, part 53230-268-050. The one on the right is for the aluminum slider bikes, part 53230-268-060.

Tom, that top yoke, to the left of the pic, with the instrument hoop has rarity value. At least, it does until those clever Thai boys start making copies!

Yes, Steve. Those Thai boys are pretty adept at making copies. If they would all represent their copies as repops I wouldn't have a problem. It's the ones that represent them as "NOS" parts or take the photo with an old Honda parts bag giving the illusion of OEM that I take issue with. There's a lot of that stuff on e-bay going on.
