Sending the head to Ed was the best $ I ever spent.
Total was about $150 round trip in shipping, plus $120 for labor and parts.
Head came back better than NOS and bolted right on.
A steal by any measure.

I can't argue! I was thinking the other day that once the bike is running it will be mechanically sound, almost new. It had over 10K miles on it when I bought it, way back when, so I've never experienced how good it CAN run. I will, now.

It's still sitting in the garage, waiting for me to send the head to LM...
And for nicer, warmer weather, so I can get the cosmetics done. Or at least started.
Life just KEEPS getting in the way! The heck with a schedule. It will get done when it gets done.

You could've done it yourself by now and spent the shipping cost on paint........ :-)
It's all about therapy, no rush. I love buying the tools and doing it all myself. I realized that I enjoy the 'fettling' more than riding these days.
Take Care

G, you're right! ;)
I've a lot on my plate right now, and the Old Girl has taken a back seat. I'm not really happy about that, but "it is what it is" for now. However, I did bring some of the brightwork to work with me so I could shine on it during downtime :)
G, you take care!

Same problem here. Despite the number of projects I have to work on, each of them has made the same progress since November: none....
Since November I have been in Aus for two weeks and US for four. Need to build up my restoration mojo and actually put some parts together. MY CB77 is all painted and the chromework done. Just have to build up the motor now. I've rebuilt the head (seats done with Nuway cutters) and the barrel is re-bored with new pistons.

The gearbox shafts are built up with the best parts I have so I just need to reassemble the bottom end.
Nearly forgot - re-lace the wheels, reassemble the front forks etc...
Then there are several more projects in waiting as you can see from my signature..... I won't be bored when I finally retire.
Enjoy the journey!

Hello Sara,
I saw your restoration thread a few days ago & just finished reading about your adventure- great inspiration to drag myself out to the garage tomorrow for a major clean up on my cb.
One of the things I noticed is that when you became frustrated with the down time or lack of progress, you always came back with a vengence & completed much more than I expected to read, this is a great story!! & a forum of great enthusiasts!
I look forward to the next chapter.
