Thanks for your kind words--I'm pretty pleased with it and am enjoying learning to ride it. I wonder if I will be lucky enough to find a second diamond in the rough Super Hawk to work on.

Thanks for the note on the shock mounting nuts. I guess I'll use them even though they appear small.

I used mine with a s/s M10 penny washer on the outside of the upper shock lug; wind it good & tight against the top mount shoulder.

BTW, I'd say your kickstart needs moving one spline c/w! Not being picky or anything......

Thanks for the tip, Steve. I couldn't find an indexing mark on the kickstart arm so I eye-balled it. Is there a mechanical/functional problem if it's left where it is? I will rotate it one spline, but rationale is always helpful.

I don't consider people pointing these things out to be at all picky. For a newcomer like me, all comments are welcome, so feel free!

The kick lever should have a punch mark at the shaft location and the shaft will have a punch in the end.
Inside the cover ya will see that both gears have punch marks and "O" on them.
Align the "O" as ya install the gears and align the punch when ya install the cover.
This may be reversed (punch/"O") locations but I think ya will get the idea. .........lm

I had no problem putting the gears and spring together using those marks. But when I went to put the kick arm onto the spline, I couldn't discern a mark on the arm as the photos show.

If you know where the punch mark should be, could you "clock" it for me using the second photo?
