the mufflers do indeed have vertical seams and a baffle. they also separate into 2 pieces. im not really sure what they are from, but im keeping em. the bike came with a broken clutch handle, so its possible the original mufflers were damaged years ago. i was told by the ebay seller on pickup that "it is stock cafe"... whatever that means. so i don't really know whats been swapped out or not. however, i do have a cherry 305 to reference what stock looks like (owned by my father). eye candy below.

had to drill a couple stripped philips out of the tach and points covers, but got them off. got the valves, springs, bearings and rockers out of the head to be inspected later this week when time allows. everything under the left and right engine covers is in phenomenal shape, and nothing looks like it needs replacing.

forks are finally off of the frame no thanks to that fat 35mm bastard. now the frame and swingarm can now go get powder coated in the next weeks here.

parts have started coming in and parts have come back from maas bros. powdercoating in livermore. everything looks immaculate in the gloss black. really a top rate job, iphone pics just dont do them justice. the new powdercoat is gonna look terrific with the polished aluminum and chrome.

also i dropped the head off for valve work with bruce @ best machine. great guy and great shop. hes got some sweet vintage honda trail 90s out in his shop too. thanks davo for the reference!

some stuff i didnt take pictures of is the carb rebuild and newly covered wiring harness.

No worries! I saw your head when I was in the shop the other day. Bruce is a gtreat guy, and really knows heads!

went to harbor freight and bought that heavy duty chain breaker as recommended here in the forums after trying this retarded rotor puller that was lying around. it worked a treat. thing came right off. i didnt snap a pic of it, but i did snap a pic of this that just came in...

also bruce says the head will be done this week.

been really busy. but i finally got the head back from bruce after a slight delay. the work is wonderful tho. pics below. also, hopefully i can sneak into the shop this week to seal up the case halves.

got most of the wiring back on with the coils and the case halfs back together after replacing that 14mm low gear bushing. ive been busy getting married so updates should continue more regularly now!
