Sometimes, it's so much quicker and cheaper to make simple parts than to spend years searching or pay over the odds for them. It helps that people like Alan Curtis are prepared to lend parts for patterns.

I try to read this forum once in a week, although the CB450's are more suitable for the Dutch roads as a daily driver, my heart lays still with the 250's and the 305's.

Following this thread for my next year's a parallel restoration of a CB77 and a CB72 both '62, both blue.
The (early '62) CB72 is a mix of 61/62 parts (came from the factory that way) , the CB77 is a later '62. The CB72 is an European version (Dutch), the CB77 is an US version.

This year I'm still involved in the 450's. Having build a spare engine for my CB450 K0 (breaking in at the moment), and building a 1969 CB450 K2.

i would really be interested to see an account of your 1962 bikes when you get to them. So many unusual parts on these 1961 bikes.

If I can help you with any parts for you '62s please let me know.

The CB72 was fairly complete when I got it, the CB77 too.
Here are some pictures of the CB72. First I thought is was a bitsa, but the numbers are very early. Frame is 62. engine is 62, front fork is 61 (headlight, speedo etc.) Has grey cables, early swing arm, long brake pedal. Early winker set-up, seldom seen, even here in the Netherlands / Germany. Rare add-on winker switch, same as on CB92's.

I admire your perseverance, it's very hard to do a resto like that.

That's really lovely. Like you say, it's pretty complete. I notice the single rivet (centre brace) front fender. Is that aluminium or steel? Also square bowl carbs? I would have thought round bowl on '62. Several of the bikes I have stripped have had one of each. :-)
