most likely the clutch plates are sticking together.either from rust or gummy oil.you should pull and clean the clutch disks.

to begin you must of course drop the cam chain.then remove the tach drive from the left side and the points cover from the right side.once the top plate is removed from the engine pull the long head bolts that go through the valve rocker pivot pins.back off on all valve adjusters to relieve all pres...

first the slot that is cut the whole length of the slide goes to the inside on each carb.look at the slide and you will see that on the bottom part there is a part that is cut away at the bottom that goes toward the air cleaner.also be sure that the needle retainer is firmly seated to hold the needl...

check the compression on both cylinders,first as the bike is now,then squirt a small amount of oil in each cylinder and check again.if the compression increases a lot then your rings need replacing.
