Thanks. Looking at the wiring diagrams for the Honda and the Kohler, that makes sense.

I'm using a NOS battery. I hope this prolongs its life. At $100 a pop, I can't afford to replace it every season.

I ordered a Kohler three-terminal regulator/rectifier. I'm not sure what the three terminals correspond to and if they perform the same functions as the three tabs on the stock three wire rectifier. What I got from Kohler is a 41 403 10-S. From what I can see in the wiring diagrams for Kohler engine...

Mine is a '64. The stock rectifier is three wires--brown/yellow/red. It's like the one seen below.


I don't understand why it would be necessary to tie any wires together.

Billyfly--I see you have it wired brown/yellow/red. Have you checked to see what kind of voltage that gives you at the battery? Does it function as it should?

The regulator should arrive today. I've got an old stock rectifier that I'll use for the connectors so I can plug it in directly. I'm wondering about the wiring. Anyone know which wires from the stock harness connect to which terminals? I've seen one picture that shows, looking from the back of the ...

I wish I had known about this when I bought the new selenium rectifier. It looks like the Kohler replaces both parts.
