Re: C72 from France

That is very true. :-) Another member here, GMan, did a great write-up on rebuilding the front and rear shocks and listed seals etc that are required. This may help you.

Re: CA77 odd serial

Bill Silver (a recognised expert on Honda Dreams) seems to agree with you in his documentation that I have. He lists the highest CA77 frame serial number as 314731 from 1963. From there they appear to change to the CA78 format.

Great info here and nice write-up, thanks GrahamH. Improving the front brake performance is definitely on my list of things to do.

Re: Metric threads

It certainly is an honour and privilege to have Mr Honda, Bill Silver, posting on our forum. Bill and Ed Moore are known experts on our range of motorcycles. Bill used to produce an invaluable package of information on the Honda 305 & 250 C(A)77 & C(A)72.

Welcome along Bill.

Re: Carburetor stuck on full throttle - CA77

If I remember correctly, it is easy to have the throttle slide rotated around the wrong way (about 180 degrees). This makes the throttle slide sit much higher than the idle screw and results in high revs. You should be able to tell by the amount of travel in the twist of the throttle.
