I checked the fuel tube and it's not sticking out past the rubber. There are slight ridges on the holes in the bottom of the petcock that the rubber piece sits on that make it not sit flat. Thanks G! You never know....I pictured a Japanese engineer designing them and giggling while he did it! It could be the same guy that designed that metal rod that goes through the air filter that drives me crazy every time I have to install the filter! :-)

I'm getting ready to clean and coat the gas tank. I've taken the petcock off and I noticed there are three nuts on the inside of the gas tank that the screws screw into. Are those welded on?
