Thanks Larry, and you’re welcome.
In the last couple months, I’ve rebuilt quite a few advancers. People can’t believe how much better they run once the timing is corrected.
If I can help anyone else email me at:

Re: Cl77 piston to bore clearance
Bill, Shop manual shows rebore limit at a loose.0039”. I would expect with that much ring end gap it would certainly start consuming some oil and possibly some piston slap noise. I go with .002 to .0025”. Oh yeah and if your sleeves are loose in the cylinder that’s a problem for heat transfer. Tim

Re: Engine seizure/advance repair
Thanks Larry! I’ve been modifying these for 15+ years and it’s by far the best performance modification you can do. It also fixes the loose rivets/gear problem. When I first tried this I was concerned about excessive noise when the bob weight stops made contact with cam gear, but there’s no noise. I...

Re: CB77 ignition advance
Larry,
Yes, I still rebuild a lot of them for folks all over the country. PM me.
FYI just replacing the spring won’t fix the over advancing problem that causes engine to seize on long freeway rides.

Re: CL77 Clutch cable and perch question
DJM is correct that the late model CL’s changed to the CB part. Clearly the parts book shows perch was charged to the CB style at frame 1047978. Good grief!

Re: Firing on right cylinder only
According to all of Honda's literature, the compression is lower on the Dream motor, even though the dome height is similar, the profile/shape is obviously different. I agree with Mike in Idaho, and decided it would be best if I did my own test on these two combustion chambers, to determine the prec...

No return spring was ever used on CB’s.
