I read a review sometime somewhere about penetrating oils.
They got best results from a 50/50 mix of ATF and acetone.
Maybe do it outside.

Hi Phil, I've "twisted" about ten pairs of these without injury to the chrome. Clamp the bottom section vertically in a smooth jaw bench vise, including the lower bend.
