Re: replacing steering stem bearings

These are still easy to find. David Silver Spares (https://www.davidsilverspares.com/CB77-305) has some listed but are out of stock. Something to keep in mind: There was a major change in the front fork and several changes in the steering stem over the years of production. I don't know how this affe...

Re: another novice question

The colour is still in Honda's inventory and is called Cloud Silver with the code NH35M. If you have a painted part you might be able to find a good match at any automotive supply place.

Re: 1969 CA77 runs erratically

"Can you tell me how to check for a defective condenser? It looks like it’s impossible to get to without removing the motor" Yeah, it's in a bad place. I'll bet it made assembly easier though. ;-) An ohmmeter may be all you need. They often fail by shorting to ground so if the resistance between the...

Re: 1969 CA77 runs erratically

Things like this are often hard to diagnose but here's one idea. The throttle cable needs to be really clean and free to move. If it sticks and holds the slide a bit above the idle speed screw it can slowly move and drop the idle speed. WD-40 is a convenient cleaner to inject at the top and catch at...

Re: Cyllinder sleeve replacement tips

My limited experience (N=1) tells me that you should have an easy time. I degreased the block thoroughly so as not to fill my oven and house with oil fumes. I heated the oven to 175℃ (350℉) and left the block in for about 1/2 hour. Less time would probably have been enough. Taking it to my workbench...

Re: 1969 CA77 Coil

To answer your question, yes, you should see much more resistance on the secondary coil if you are getting any spark at all. And, if the right side was giving a good spark but the left wasn't, it seems to me that there would have to be a problem with the left side connector, wire, cap or spark plug....

Re: 305 crank rebuild service??

A rebuild will no doubt be expensive, especially if you have to ship 20 kg of steel overseas. Perhaps replacing it would be better. I found a link to some used crank assemblies . Note that you need to get one that matches the model as the C77, CB77 and CL77 are all at least a bit different. I think ...
