I presume it is the same as the CA77. The kick starter has a splined shaft that engages a receptacle on the side of the transmission. CA78 Kick Start removal

Anyone on here have any tips on how to remove the kick starter so I can get the side cover off the motor? I don't see a pin or anything else on it that holds it in place.

I just bought a CA78 and I need help with a few things. A: I believe it is a 1964. Vin# CA78 10000201 B: The starter wire is missing.
