a little update. i was buttoning up the clutch basket a couple of days ago when the cover gasket came in. so i got basket back on and cover back on. i adjusted the clutch by having the actuator at 7 oclock, lever out, and 9 lever to grip. i had 0 freeplay. perfect i had both adjustments all the way ...

thanks fellas i really appreciate the input. back in the day i used shell rotella in my bmw and british bikes with now ill effects on clutches. i ran straight 30w in my 305 scrambler back in the day. later a 250 with 10w30. that was in the early 70's the 305 was mid sixties. of course their were no ...

thank you duece-7. i think you nailed it. i had the carb mounting nuts pretty much too tight im pretty sure. the only time that happened was after running it wide open for probably 12 miles. the heat and tight mounting over torqued nuts was probably the cause. i'll post back to let y'all know. i hav...

back in the day the lead in fuel was an excellent lubricant for the valve train of gas engines. marvel mystery oil at 4oz per 10 gal of fuel is what i use in my airplane, harley's, and vintage bikes. it's a good lube for the valve trains and helps to eliminate carbon build up.
