Yes, heat is the answer. After soaking all 3 of mine in Liquid Wrench they still would not come off, even with a 16" Crescent wrench. A little heat with a propane torch and it spun right off. Try to take off the ring that goes over that nut before heating, it seems fragile.

Spoke locations

I stripped the spokes from 6 rims in prep for replating. I didn't notice (look for!) any differance between the spokes. After bead blasting and sorting out I found that half of my A & B spokes have a larger diameter at the top, see attached photo. I assume the ones with the increased diameter are fo...

seat springs

Does anyone have springs/hooks for a CA77 seat? I need to complete my set before replating. Sure they probably are the same for CB/CL and others besides 77's. I need 3 long, 3 short and 9 hooks. Will buy or trade for my surplus parts off 1965 CA77. Feel free to PM me if you have some or need other p...

Rear hub differances

Getting around to chroming my rims and replating the spokes. The rear hub taken from my '64 CA77 had "cutouts" and the corresponding rubber dampeners clipped in. My '65 CA77 had a solid hub (no cutouts) and the dampeners pinned in with nibs molded on. Took apart my '63 CA72 fr and rr wheels this mor...

Spoke thread chasing

I am going to have several sets of old spokes from my 1964 and 1965 CA77s replated (Cd) and clear chromated. I am wondering if I will have to chase the threads on the spokes and nipples after plating. Appear to be 4mmx.65 by my pitch gauge. The .60 is too coarse. Any idea what the pitch is? Note: th...
