UPDATE

Not sure if this is the final solution other than it got the problem sort of fixed. I disconnected the yellow/red wire coming out from the solenoid (looks like its the same wire going to the start button) (THANKS DJM!). Now it starts but only with a kick. Maybe the start button is not wired correctl...

Starter Motor Issue

This one has me perplexed. Working on an early (1962) CA77 Dream I bought about a month ago. When the key is turned to ANY position (except "0"), the starter rolls over (or turns on). So I have to turn the key back to "0" to make it stop. I believe the starter motor should only turn over if you pres...

throttle cable length

I'm working on an early ('62) CA77 Dream. The throttle cable was in bad shape so I bought a replacement off eBay. Looks identical to original but its too long. Does anybody have any advice on what to do? Should I look for another that is the correct length or snip off the throttle side end, cut the ...

CA77 throttle cable replacement

hello- does anyone know how to replace the throttle cable on an early ('66) CA77? Specifically what I'm referring to is: how do I feed the cable through the silver guide arm (not sure what its called) see photo (it screws onto the throttle assembly on the handlebars). Neither end of the new cable wo...

Carb slide question

Hey All- Working on an "early" 305 Dream. I've rebuilt the carb but notice the slide sticks. For example, if I turn the carb upside down, the slide won't slide out on its own. It's slides slightly but then stops. I've cleaned it very well and felt around for any burrs, etc. Feels really smooth on bo...

Compression question

This question may be too much for a forum. I bought my first Dream: a 1962, 305 CA77. I'm not a true mechanic so my knowledge is limited. The compression (the carb off and the plugs removed) reads around 85 on both sides (also added a little Marvels Mystery Oil to both plug holes). Does this mean I ...

battery question

I'm one week into working on a 62 Honda Dream CA77. I'm new to this so a question has popped up. I bought a new battery online that is identical to the one that was in it (clear plastic with blue top, rectangular and thin). It didn't come with acid so I bought some from local auto parts store. Can I...
