Great info, Tim & Deej!

BITD my CB77 handled and gripped brilliantly on good old Dunlop Gold Seal K70s, both front and rear (and the rear was always covered in oil mist, via a crankcase leak!).

I think my fear-factor was non-existent back then; not so nowadays...

There should be a pair of cotton-sleeved wires (it’s a heat-resistant sleeve) that lead from the points’ assemblies to the coils; I think they’re yellow & green (or yellow & blue?). These two connect to their respective coils’ negative terminals, along with the corresponding wires from the condenser...

And to add to my friends’ comments: had the bike been stood for a long time (years)? If so, then the clutch would’ve been only partially immersed in the oil, so the segments that were not immersed would’ve dried out a fair bit, making the friction plates’ material react against the steel plates diff...
