Re: Question for Elektronik Sachse Ignition Users

As I understand it the Sachse ignition is mounted on the crankshaft outboard of the alternator and if so would be totally unaffected by the condition of the advancer or indeed anything in the cam / points drive system. To my mind the this is best reason by far for choosing this ignition over any oth...

Re: Idle troubleshooting checklist? (Back after a long break)

Why didn't you swap the needles, tops and slides, until you do you can't rule out the problem being carb related. Swap the other carb bits over and see what, if any , difference that makes. Amal MK1 concentrics were a half decent carb but were built down to a price and not noted for longevity, they ...

Re: Main circuit breaker

Just wondered why you would want to do that, fuses and circuit breakers perform much the same function except of course a fuse is a sacrificial device, IE when it blows you need a new one! Circuit breakers are usually fitted when close setting protection is required, in the case of your CL77 the fus...

Re: CB77 front rims

You can but I wouldn't. Keep looking for the correct size rim and fit the original recommended size tyres, surprisingly they still work well like that. If your spokes 'appear identical' then some of them are incorrect, front spokes are thinner double butted spokes which means they change diameter tw...

Re: 1964 CL72 Clutch will not engage.

It's rare for the ball bearing to get lost as it's usually glued in place with the old hard grease, give the clutch lifter a good clean out and make sure that you haven't now got TWO bearings in there, this would cause problems like you have now. You CAN''T adjust the clutch until you have the side ...

Re: Idle troubleshooting checklist? (Back after a long break)

A contact over here has used a pair of Chinese MOLK or MOLKT carbs on his CB77 with very good results,These are available on line and very reasonably priced. Quality is excellent. Jetting wise they were spot on 'straight out of the box' , fitting wasn't quit a straight swap but well within the capab...

Re: Idle troubleshooting checklist? (Back after a long break)

Which model Amals do you have, float heights on the comcentrics aren't really adjustable but the float needles are prone to wear, later ones are better as they have Viton ( a type of hard rubber) tips.
