A couple of other checks....... Check plug cap resistor values/and or connections. I had the exact same problem on a single carb Dream, and changing plugs, caps and trimming the wires solved it., so it was one of the three. I have also found mis-labeled or mis-manufactured jets from aftermarket supp...

I used one years ago more to make sure the dwell was the same on both sets of points than setting the gap itself. Trying to decide which display and setting to use was confusing since most meters gave 2 choices....8 cyl or 6 cyl. and I had either 1, 2 or 4 cyl bikes, and some were single fire points...

I do have a strobe timing light. Where do I use it? Alternator stator plate? How do I tell how many degrees before/after TDC the ignition is set (no degree markers like on a car, that I can see). How many degrees before after TDC SHOULD it be set to? No distributor to turn like on a car, or do you ...
