Re: Question for Elektronik Sachse Ignition UsersThanks a ton for the explanation, and that’s solid advice about not putting a racing ignition on a bike that runs back and forth to the pub :)
Question for Elektronik Sachse Ignition UsersHey there, Does the Sachse ignition system require I open the engine and weld my mechanical advance in place, or does it somehow manage the advance electronically regardless of what the mechanical advance unit is doing at various RPMs? I don’t pretend to understand advance and ignition, but is seems...
Re: Idle troubleshooting checklist? (Back after a long break)Increase in advance timing cleared up my trouble. So much so that I tried it on my 550 as well, with great results. Both bikes were rebuilt with new cam chains, timed static and with gun, and then stored for five years with maybe one start a year. I guess the question is - how much is too much advan...
Re: Idle troubleshooting checklist? (Back after a long break)Will swap the slides needles and tops and see what happens.
Ignition is electronic. Might try putting the points back in. Valves were set after rebuild but I will check them. Stock carbs are shot. Thanks for help with the troubleshoot!
Re: Idle troubleshooting checklist? (Back after a long break)Swapped the left and right carbs, except the needles, slides, and tops. The problem did NOT move from left side to right with the carb. The problem is still present on the left but significantly better. Right side runs exactly as before - perfect down the line. Will hold idle at 2k, but left side po...

I can imagine I have clogs from sitting, but not wear. The bike has less than 500 miles on it since the Amals were mounted. I mostly putter around the neighborhood :) I have had good luck switching my CB160 t...
Re: Idle troubleshooting checklist? (Back after a long break)Great idea. The Amals did sit for a few years so maybe I should give them an entire going over.
I don't know if left will mount to right, but if so that's a great idea! Thanks!
