cleaning out old gas

Post by I-man » Sun May 31, 2009 5:18 pm

just bought a dream ca77. The gas tank is surprisingly rust free, but old gas has varnished and gummed up the bottom of the tank. I've looked a bit, but all i've found is ideas for dealing with rust. Any ideas for my problem? thanks

I-man, POR-15 sells a product called maine clean that works well. Otherwise there's MEK, available at Ace hardware, but it's mighty toxic stuff!

sounds like my tank, had just light surface rust but a low layer of gunk. i washed it out with water many times then did the electrolysis thing.....worked great for $6.
