Hi there,
In the process of getting my 1963 CA77 up and running. I want to do a nice restoration, but I feel like I just want to get on the road right now. So I've been fixing stuff here and there just to get it road worthy. To complement that fact, I am also trying to do all of this on the cheap. So when I saw on ebay replacement air filters running for around $40-$60 I thought I could do it for less.
I had the original air filter, but most of the paper had corroded off and the wire mesh was bent up. I tore off the rest of the paper element and ground down the epoxy to metal. I then purchased a green UNI sheet filter for $13 and cut it to size. I then hot glue gunned it all the way around. I then worked in some filter oil. Now that I think about it, that might have been a dumb idea to do that since it will be difficult to clean. Oh well, this should hold me over until I get some more money for a "proper" solution. Or, I may just stick this out. I think it came out pretty nice.
