finnaly started but won't idle

Post by G-GAURD » Sat Aug 07, 2010 7:47 pm

ok
i got it started and i cant seem to get the idle off of the high RPM scary mode. would this have anything to do with the exhaust being removed and would the back pressure help to calm it down?
i backed out the idle adjust screw and i dont think the throtle cable is binding up any where.

any sugestions?

Pete

Backwards Slides?

Post by FAST FRED » Sat Aug 07, 2010 7:58 pm

Pete, check to see if the throttle valves are installed correctly. Many of us have had the experience of installing the slides backwards only to have a motor that races at an unkind level witch no adjustment seems to correct. When the slides are in bacwards they hang up on the slide locating pin at about 2 thirds throttle .

throttle cable routing

Post by G-GAURD » Sun Aug 08, 2010 5:09 am

ok
pulled the carb and the slide checked out.

routing the cable seems wrong to me. starting at the carb itself the cable is runs through the frame then out the left side then up through the hole in the handle bars then out the hole on the right side half way up the bars then under and through the hole at the throttle and connects to the slide peice inside the grip.

i think this is wrong.

i cant find any pictures or diagrams that show the correct routing so if thats the wrong routing then it could be pulling on the throttle cable making it a little short.

any suggestions?

Pete
