Hello
I recently got my 65 305 from under the house. Sitting since 1981 and of course the pistons are stuck and so are the carb slides. I have put Sili Croil in both spark plug holes and on the carb slides. My question is, since I can't find my manuals, is there a screw on the side of the carbs that holds the slides from coming out. It appears there is and it appears to be stuck too. Also the pistons are still stuck. Any thoughts other than pulling the head?
Thanks
Ev

The only screw on the side of the carb that affects the slide is the idle screw, and that stops the slide from dropping down, not from coming out. A little heat from a propane torch will work miracles on both stuck pistons and carb slides. Be sure your fuel tank is off the bike and that the carb float bowls are drained. You probably want the carbs off the engine for this procedure, and keep a fire extinguisher nearby. --Randall
