Which is the correct jet size?

Post by 56_oval » Wed Dec 01, 2010 5:49 pm

I am rebuilding the carbs for my Cb77. I got the kits a couple of days ago and took the left side carb apart and dipped it for 48 hours. When I was putting it back together, I noticed that the main jet that came in the Keyster kit was a 135 and the original jet is a keihin 140. Which is the correct one? The idle jet is a 42 which is the same as the one that came out.
Another question, the kit came with a small rubber o-ring, ID around 1-2mm. When I was taking it apart, I was very careful about watching how everything came apart. I never saw an o-ring anywhere in either carb.

56, the o-ring is for the air screw, #135s are a good baseline. Try to use as much of the original brass as possible.................................D

Keyster kits

56, I've heard(on this forum) that the brass bits, jets, needles, in the Keyster kits are inferior to the oem Honda parts which are very hard to come by. That being said, I have them in my CL carbs and it runs fine. Pay particular attention to the float levels and be sure to blow out all passages in the carb body.....................................D

Thanks man, I'll try and keep it with the stock jets and needles. I guess I'll only use the new stuff if I have problems with the old. Is there any place to get Keihin jets and parts?

56, I think a few of the forum members might have some stashed away, but most people that have any keep them . Try posting in the wanted section in the classified adds...................................D
