I tried flipping the front cover over (the one stamped with the position markings) and it actually seemed to help a little bit - I also doubled up the spring and that also seemed to help a bit but in the end it will not fully shut off. There is always eventually a drip.
So - no luck - I am now looking for a replacement and will post a request over in the 'Wanted' part of the forum.
