Is there a static test for a coil? Should it read a certain resistance?

Or is it just a swap and see if its fixed kinda thing?

Should I suspect the condenser as well?

What do people know about a banjo bolt screen?

I seem in searching threads that its a question for some CB77s.

I have a 64.

Should I have one?

Maybe I got crap in there.

The banjo bolts screw into your carbs. The fuel line goes from your petcock to the banjo bolt/inlet collars. Some have a fine mesh filter that wraps around the bolt. I remove mine when I find them.

Ok, I am a total idiot. Fundamentals first.

Let's see who can guess what the hesitation problem was.

It happened again tonight on a night ride (my first) - hint, hint - right on schedule, 15 mins in.

This time I let the bike warm up for almost 30 mins before riding off, to see if the hesitation was caused by a warm up. It wasn't.

So here is the Big Question:

What is the most common reason for one side to drop out on a Honda twin?

(PS Found and removed banjo screens, they were dirty but not blocked.)

Low battery!

I pulled in the driveway while it was acting up and the headlight was very dim.

Turned off the headlight and taillight and it shaped up.

Let is run and charge and turned on the light, drove down the block fine.

Turned around, and it started cutting out again, and dim headlight.

I have been waiting to install the fancy rectifier I got from the guy in SF. I will try that and see if it fixes this, and my fuse blowing problem.

I thought my Motobatt was indestructable, but I think I am not charging at all when the light is on.

Rectifier is very easy to check. If good, you may have a short to ground in between the pink wire from the stator through the ignition switch to the rectifier.
