rebuilt carbs-great start- and then two days later-no good

Ive used pre-mixed gas in a four stoke in an emergency before, but never intentionally. While it really won't damage anything, it's not a good idea. Check your plugs, and clean or replace them. Don't run oil in the gas. I run my 2 stroke dirt bike at 50:1, and my trials bike at 80:1. Two strokes use the oil in the fuel to lubricate the crank bearings as there is no cranckcase oil. Repeat Eds' tune up recipie, and remove float bowls, and clean out carbs, jets etc.

Deffo smacks of fuel starvation to me; if pipe sealant's been used for the petcock, I'd wager there's a bit of that causing a blockage within the 'cock itself. Whip it off & blow it through backwards with an air-line (no, not TWA -- the type you blow up your tyres with!). Take off the petcock bowl & check the gauze filter too.

The fuel recipe I read about was from a fellow on the board that used it in all his 4 stroke machines to keep everything lubed nicely, including the slides. mine were sticky even after cleaning and rebuilding so I figured I'd give it a try.

the bowls are empty so I will go through the lines again. i have new fuel filters and plugs so we'll see what happens after that.

I certainly do have a problem with all the point screws, including the plate screws. they've really been wrenched on. I'll need to find new ones.

You were saying that the bike ran fine until you took the petcock apart. Like Steve said something may have clogged the petcock.

alright. The fuel lines are clear, i ditched the filters and ran straight in. the bowls remain mostly empty. apparently the carbs are not sucking fuel. when I had the new fuel filters on i did not see gas flowing to fill them. I had to tap on them to get them half filled. with the bike off. when I ran it, The filters did not flow.

The carbs are gravity fed.They don't suck the fuel in. I've never worked on a cb77 but you should have fuel flowing out of your petcock if you disconnect it from the carb lines.
