Ya know I had it explained to me by a former employee who had to take a few days off after he cranked his Panhead in the kitchen.

"Hormones and Gas fumes just don't mix!!!"

crossover tube

Alright you guys....
Listening to this thread got me excited! LM says you can rout the crossover tube up and over the frame tube without any disruption in fuel flow, and certainly does make tank removal a heck of a lot easier! GENIUS!

I actually said, "one can/could wish it helped the fuel balance in the tank. .........lm", which means I hope it does all the time. ..............lm

crossover fuel line

....AH! Sounds as if it may be nice in a practicle way, maybe not so in reality. Hmmm. I guess when I carefully think about it, there is no way for the gravity to up and over the fuel to the cock side. Yeah, LM, maybe only a wish, but it gets me thinkin.
You readers have a wonderful Easter.

At first, looping the tube over the top of the frame tube sounds like a good plan but surely thats only a little bit different than plugging both ends. i.e the gas has to get to the top of the connecting tube to equalise and the lowest part of the tunnel (at the back) is probably lower than the top of that tube anyway.

I think Davomoto's method is no worse than re-routing the pipe.

tube

I too pondered this tube issue for some time since I had an early model tank with the tube on my 67. In 67 Honda produced the non tube tank and I wanted that with the seam cuz it would be correct for my bike and I did in fact acquire one. So I figured ya would just have to tip the bike a bit for a little more reserve. And now that I have given this more thought, mine will all go Dave's way. Just makes more sense to me than risking gas spillage now and then. I might even be tempted to do the tipping in the presence of a bunch of Harley riders. Just my country boy sense of humor I suppose. RW
