Keihin Slide Guide Replacement (non-305)Finished................
Drilled and pryed out the old plastic, but left the rectangular hole into the slide bore. Tried to find the right size plastic, but couldn't get the fit I wanted, so I went with a scrap piece of metal from some kind of clamp. Whacked it to rough (rectangular) size with a chisel and went to the grinder and wire wheel. Ground down to a snug fit, smoothed it up and JB'd it into the hole. At first I worried about possible rust problems, but since it is a pre-mix bike I don't think it will be a problem. Finished pics:

I'm delighted to find this post! My '65 CB77 has sticking Keihin carbs and it was kinda baffling to me as to what was going on. The slide jams at the top of the sleeve.
However I guess I don't understand what is actually failing here. What fails on that little pin that causes the slide to jam? I'd like to just rebuild these Keihins instead of going to Amals. I believe the failure in this case was someone trying to force the slide in without lining it up with the guide...probably with a hammer! The plastic slide guide was sheared off with just a small piece remaining at the bottom.
The slide would hang up on the remaining piece of guide whenever the slide would try to rotate. The clip was forced off the needle by the needle jamming to the side of the needle jet as there was scaring of the carb body right beside the needle jet that matched where the needle would hit if off center. I would doubt you problem is the same, however, as these carbs (at least the Dreams) have metal guides. If you haven't already done so, clean the carb and slide, and re-insert the slide by itself......it should move freely up and down under its own weight. If not, the carb body is probably warped. 66 dream, 78 cb750k, 02fz1, 09 wing
Like brewsky says the body may be warped or have a high spot in the barrel.
I use 600 grit black wet or dry sand paper to remove the high spots. I cut a 2"x3" piece and fold it to 1"x3". I run the slid in and out then look for shinny spots and that's the area I sand then repeat until the slide moves of it's own weight. I've saved a lot of carb bodies and owners $$$$. .......lm
