When you say valve stem and seat, are you referring to the brass part that screws into the carb and the part that sips into it with the pointy part that rides on the float? If so, I replaced both with the Keystear parts.

L; good idea on buying a new float. when the float is raised up in the carb by fuel level, to it's high point, it shuts the needle valve ( the small pointy thing in the threaded brass seat with the metal washer). at that point no fuel flows into the carb. as the running engine draws fuel in, the float sinks, opening the needle valve, allowing fuel to flow into the carb. if the float doesn't rise (leaky--full of fuel), the fuel flows continously, overflowing.
Good luck

That all sounds good except that I am still getting gas coming through the needle valve even when I remove the float and push it all the way in with my finger. Shouldtt doing this stop ALL gas from going past the needle valve?

I think LM's spotted the problem here...pointy end goes up into seat, flat part (with spring loaded plunger on my bike) rides on float tang...assuming we're reading you right...

OK, I am thinking about getting a new (used) carb for the bike but, they are soooo expensive! Does anyone know of a new carb that will fit onto a CA77? I see that new carbs are half the price of used original ones.
