crazy settings needle/air screw/ slide screw

Post by versuspop » Thu May 07, 2009 9:51 am

I have a 65 CA77.
Bike was running rich/ high idle, but after running bike it would want to idle so low that it would die...and fouling plugs...

running much more smoothe now, lower , but consistent idle, good acceleration.

after many attempts i have come to these settings:
Needle is in top notch (sitting lowest in jet)
Slide screw is alomst all the wat out
air screw is all the way to bottom less about 1/8th turn
float height 26.5~27mm

other info:
NOS carb. 35 slow jet. can't find nunmber on main jet. have nos paper airfilter attached. carb nuts not overtightened. valve clearance to spec.

Still Idles a bit high (no tach, however on ca77)....checking tonight to see if plugs fouled....
this whole set up just seems wrong.

Any thoughts?

You for sure have something out of sorts with the way you have the carb adjusted. ............lm

Do you have the required slack in the throttle cable

still fouling plugs with previous set up sooooo....

i have switched to a 115 main jet and the original needle.

now it will not start. back fires on ignition. (assumed to be lean now. verify, anyone?)

i switched to the 115 main jet because that was what was in the original carb.

i also have a 130 for a keyster kit.
