Keihin PWK 28mm Carbs

Post by green62belair » Sun Jun 07, 2009 10:23 pm

Hello,

Anyone ever had any experience adapting 28mm PWK carburetors (new) to a CB77?
Thanks,
Kevin

I haven't had experience with those carbs, but if you are thinking of trying it out, make some measurements to see if they will fit. As well, see if you can bolt them directly to the engine. I tried to make a pair of Mikuni VM26's work on the bike, and came to find out that they weren't meant to be bolted directly onto the engine. They needed to be pulled back some to work properly, and with the stock tank and petcock configuration, you couldn't do it. However, I did have success with my Amal 626 carbs, which have been on there for about 3 years now, and work perfectly. Luckily, their mounts are the same as the Keihins, so no modifications to the mount were needed. Plus, they worked right out of the box. I still have the original Keihin carbs in case I ever want to switch back in future.

I don't know if SUDCO would be able to give you any guidance, or Allens Performance in the UK ( www.allensperformance.co.uk ) are carb experts, so they might be able to offer some suggestions. Other than that......?
