dellorto carbs

Post by Hahnda » Sat Jan 16, 2010 10:26 pm

Anybody ever ran Dellorto UB22S carbs? I came into a set that were said to have been run on a 250. The manifolds that came with them fit right on.

These kinda look like Amal pre-monobloc carbs (from the 1930's to about 1955). The Amals were known for leaking when put on their sidestand. As well, hard cornering could cause a fuel surge. Another thing about the float chamber being on one side is that the float's fuel level can change with the lean angle of the bike (unlike the stock Keihins, or the Amal Mk1 Concentrics that I have, which have the float chamber directly underneath).

This info pertains to the Amals, but judging by the look of your carbs, I'd suspect this could be the case as well....I'm no mechanic though, so maybe one of the resident carb experts could either confirm or refute my info. They do look pretty neat though!

Are those plungers on the top of the carbs the 'ticklers' or the chokes? If so, would you be able to get to them with them hidden under the gas tank, let alone being able to pull them up far enough to work?

I guess the '22' in the model number denotes them as 22mm carbs?

I have a similar Amal carb on my BSA M20 and a similar dellorto on my Guzzi Stornello Sport and a Guzzi V700 I had. All have float chambers like these.

Just thought it was odd to run into these set up to run on a Honda. Those are chokes on the top. MAy or may not work with a stock tank. Yes they appear to be 22mm.

I have a plan in the back of my head to build a CL72 flat track bike. These may end up on that if they work well. enough.
