Hi, this is My first Post....and it was after I read as much as possible about Our 305's And since My CA 78 1964 has only one carb, and its a PW 22 KEI*HIN its time to check in with the Stats.
My bike has been tampered with at some point in its long bearded past. so the carb nuts were only snug, I took it off to see why it was stuck... P U!!! the old gas was stinking up my kitchen as I gingerly set it aside to get some" Know it all's" on the case.
I have read in previous posts that the slide can be slippery again with some coaxing, and It seems possible that this Carb Body could gleem again, but before I put any WD 40 in the body of the carb I thought I might look for a PRO to re do it as specified in the detailed How to's, it is stamped CA77 B so its the correct one
On the EBAy a good one I was watching went for a hundred bucks
I also need to set up a cable and throttle combo for it. Mine had a aftermarket throttle actuator, so I got a used"replacement" starter and throttle combo set that came to me minus the Hinge& wiring to the starter
I got wind of a new" hinge set " that is less than ten bucks with shipping, from a sister bike on dear E bay but had not jumped at it yet.
I want a Pro to take these sadly neglected original parts to his workbench and restore the functionality,,, so when I do start the motor up, we will have it right from day one.
I hope to attract a Specialist in California, or wherever he might live. I'm prepared to pay the going rate, cause this is a Wet Dream, the Honda Dream was in our hearts as teenagers and we graduated to scramblers a few day later.
My Dad Louis W. Pittman was the "Honda" salesman at Bill Robertson Honda in Hollywood when these ht the sunset strip back in the day.(the autos were late and all the dealers were forced to sell motorcycles to retain their Valuable territory) he was a happy go lucky Hot Rodder that really enjoyed the Fun on two wheels he was selling. I was 13 in 1964
I got one in June that was listed for sale on CRAIGSLIST in my own neighborhood ,it looks good but does have some evidence of parts switching. It seems that the best advice is from fellow owners,so I will look for clues to a fresh carb and cable/throttle here. If you have experience in the early single carb CA's I sure would like to get caught up
My brother says its our Heritage cause we were the first ones to get our greasy hands these cool bikes that dad brought home.
Its a White model serial # CA78-105371 and motor #CA77E-105379 last registered in 1973 CA. black plate
