petcock binds when installed

Post by G-GAURD » Thu Aug 12, 2010 4:34 am

when i installed my petcock to the tank the lever seems to bind and really hard to turn the gas on and off i might be tightening the screws to much but i also want to make sure i compress the O-ring gasket so it doesnt leak.

when it's off the tank the lever moves really smooth and easy.

any suggestions???

thanks

2 suggestions.

1) Don't screw it in so tight

2) Bend the pin-wheelie metal tabs so that they don't put as mush pressure when compressed (ignore yellow arrow)

Mine did the exact same thing...was real tight to begin with, but has loosened up over time.
Recently had mine apart to change tanks, and noticed the rubber washer with the holes had begun to tear where the lever slides over the holes, so I will be needing a new one shortly.
Paperslider probably has good a recommendation there.
Next time I will try to find the cork type OEM washer.
